Originally from Malaysia and now based in the New York/New Jersey area, her work as a pianist, collaborative artist, and educator lives at the intersection of these musical world: shifting fluidly from the architectural precision of classical performance to the spontaneous, conversational pulse of jazz and musical theatre. Whether anchoring a theater orchestra from the keys, serving as an intuitive vocal coach, or grounding young students with stable technique and structured, goal-oriented planning in the studio, her approach is defined by an intuitive responsiveness to the music.
Her multi-stylistic path has led to diverse professional milestones that span continents and genres. As a creator and performer, she served as a composer for the Across A Crowded Room Musical Theatre Writing Workshop from summer 2023 to winter 2024, culminating in the premiere of her 20-minute musical, Polar Excess, at Lincoln Center’s NYPL Bruno Walter Hall. Her stage work includes directing mini big band tribute recitals inspired by her research into the aesthetics of jazz pioneers like Mary Lou Williams, performing solo alongside with the jazz icon - Scott Hamilton, at the GMF Tuscany Jazz Festival in Italy, and providing professional sight-reading and accompaniment for the prestigious BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop in Manhattan. Immersed in the vibrant artistic community of the States, she views artistry as a lifelong continuum where cultural perspective, technical clarity, and expressive freedom unite to shape sound across genres and generations.
This artistic journey is built on a rigorous foundation of academic and private training. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Classical Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where she pursued intensive private study under Inesa Sinkevych and Phillip Kawin, alongside instrumental accompanying with John Forconi. Expanding her versatility, she went on to earn a Master of Music in Jazz Studies and Performance from William Paterson University under the private mentorship of Bruce Barth and Dr. Carl Patrick Bolleia, participating in ensembles directed by Bill Charlap, Johnathan Blake, Carolyn Leonhart, and John Mosca. Her training is further enhanced by her time spent auditing the renowned BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop in Manhattan, seamlessly connecting her academic mastery to the professional stage.
